Voice Recognition Overview
Toyota Display Audio with Entune™ [5] features voice recognition that controls many aspects of the audio, navigation [11], and phone.
Voice recognition commands power the following multimedia functions:
- Phone
- Navigation
- Media
Note: "Press" refers to hard buttons; "Touch" refers to the display screen (phone or multimedia system).
Press the speaker icon at the top of the screen to adjust the volume up or down.
Phone Voice Recognition
Bluetooth® [3] - capable smartphone must be paired and connected before using the voice recognition feature. To pair your phone for voice recognition, please visit Pair Your Phone
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- A list of voice help command categories will appear on the screen to choose from
- Select a command
- To place a call, say “call” or “dial”
- A voice prompt will ask if you would like to call by name, phone number, dial by number, or redial
- Select how you would like to place the call
- Say the number you are calling
- Say "dial"
- Touch "end call"
- Say "Help" at any time to get a list of voice-activated commands
One-Shot Phone Dialing
The Display Audio multimedia system uses voice recognition that allows you to input phone call information in one sentence.
First time users must sync your phonebook to the system.
- Press "set up"
- Touch "phone"
- Touch "Refresh Phonebook"
Now your phonebook has been synced to the system.
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- Say: “Call” or “Dial” (number); i.e. “Call 212-555-1212”
- You can also call from a name in your phonebook
- Say: “Call” or “Dial” (name); i.e. “Call David Smith”
- If there is more than one phone number for David Smith, a list of choices will appear on the touchscreen
- The voice prompt will ask you to choose a number selection to call
Navigation [11] Voice RecognitionOne-Shot Navigation [11]
Because the Toyota multimedia system uses advanced voice recognition, you can input navigation [11] directions in one sentence.
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- After prompt, without pausing, say “Destination,” followed by the street number, street name, city, and state
- System will pause and analyze the speech input
- System will read back the entire address, or it will list the possible streets that closely match the spoken command
- System will ask if you want to start route guidance
Regular Navigation [11] Input
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- Say “Navigation Commands” and follow on-screen voice command instructions
- Possible navigation commands include: Destination (one-shot), Enter country, state, city, zip code, street, house number, favorite (pre-programmed), find next (POI brand), show map, or repeat instructions
Media Voice Recognition
One-Shot Media (used to access songs from an iPod® [6], personal music player or USB storage device [7])
- Press the
button on the steering wheel
- After prompt, without pausing, say "play" [artist's name]
- System will either read back the artist’s name, or it will list the possible artists that closely match the spoken command
- System will ask you to select a line number
- Select an album, list all or all songs
- Say "all songs" and the system will start to play your selection
Regular Media Input
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- Say “Media Commands” and follow on-screen voice command instructions
- Voice-activated media commands include: play artist, album, song, genre, playlist; search for music, next track, previous track, or play more like this (system will search for similar music to play)
- Say the command you desire and your selection will begin playing
Radio Input
- Press the
button on the steering wheel.
- Say "Radio Commands" and follow on-screen voice command instructions
- Voice-activated media commands include: play artist, album, song, search for music, genre, playlist, next track, previous track, or play more like this (system will search for similar music to play)
- Say the command you desire and your selection will begin playing

Toyota premium display multimedia audio systems feature advanced voice recognition that controls many aspects of the audio, navigation [11], and phone.
Audio Streaming
The audio system enables users to enjoy audio played on a Bluetooth® [3]-compatible portable player or smartphone from the vehicle’s speakers via wireless communication.
iTunes® Tagging[2]
With iTunes® Tagging [2], all you have to do when you hear a song you like on an HD Radio™ [10] station, you can tag it with just the press of a button and then purchase it later.
CP/MP3/WMA
The single-disc play incorporated into the unit can play audio CDs, MP3 and WMA discs.
HD Radio™ [10]
HD Radio™ [10] Technology converts the traditional analog radio broadcast to digital and provides advanced audio and data features that enhance your listening experience.
SiriusXM[8] Satellite Radio
SiriusXM [8] delivers over 170 channels of sports, news, talk, and commercial-free music, all in amazing digital sound.
