Hands-Free Calling

Display Navigation with Entune®7 features hands-free calling, which allows you to send and receive phone calls without using your handset. In addition, Toyota’s Voice Recognition System allows you to make those calls by pressing a button on the steering wheel, so you can keep your eyes on the road. See your Owner’s Manual for a complete list of voice commands.

Before using hands-free calling, phone must be paired. If it is not, please go to Pair a Phone to find out how to connect to Bluetooth® 8 services or download the Bluetooth Pairing Guide.

Note: "Press" refers to hard buttons on the sides of the screen; "Touch" refers to the display screen (phone or multimedia system).

Make a Hands-Free Call

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch the desired keys to input the phone
  5. Touch the green phone button to make the call

Make a Call by Phonebook

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch Contacts
  5. Touch the desired contact
  6. Touch the desired number form the list if there is more than one number
  7. Touch the green phone button to make the call

Make a Call by Speed Dial

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch Speed Dials
  5. Touch the desired number to call
  6. Touch Speed Dial 2 or Speed Dial 3 to locate other speed dial stored contacts
  7. Touch the green phone button to make the call

Make a Call by Contacts

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch the desired keys to input the phone number
  5. Touch the green phone button to make the call

Set up Contacts

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch Contacts
  5. Touch Yes or Transfer to automatically transfer the phonebook from your smartphone to your vehicle
  6. Touch Manual to manually transfer your phonebook
  7. Touch No or Cancel to cancel transfer
  8. All phone contacts are now accessible

Make a Call by History

  1. Press MENU on the faceplate
  2. Touch Setup
  3. Touch Phone
  4. Touch Call History
  5. Select the tab: All, Missed, Incoming or Outgoing to display the call
  6. Touch the green phone button to make the call
Whenever you are talking on a hands-free call, a screen will be displayed with call information on the left and call options on the right.

Mute Call

  1. Touch Mute on the screen to mute your voice. When on Mute, indicator light will turn on.
  2. Touch Mute again to unmute call. Indicator light will turn off.

Transfer to Phone

  1. Touch Handset Mode on the screen to change from hands-free to mobile phone call
  2. Touch Hands-Free Mode on Screen to change from mobile phone call to hands-free call

Hands-Free Calling/Voice Recognition

  1. Press the Hands-Free button on the steering wheel
  2. Say: "Call" or "Dial" (number); i.e. "Call 212-555-1212"
  3. Phone will dial and play call through speakers

Hands-Free Calling from Phonebook

  1. Press the Hands-Freebutton on the steering wheel
  2. Say: "Call" or "Dial" (name); i.e. "Call David Smith" (Names are contacts found in your phonebook that can be downloaded when pairing your mobile phone)
  3. If there is more than one phone number for David Smith, a list of choices with corresponding numbers will appear on the touchscreen
  4. The voice prompt will ask you to choose a number selection to call

  • What is Entune?
    Entune 7 encompasses the complete audio display stack of your vehicle - including Bluetooth® 8, voice recognition, USB 11, AUX port, and your display screen. On select models equipped with premium audio head units, you have access to navigation and a rich set of Apps and Data Services, now referred to as the “Entune® App Suite” 7.
  • Will Entune® use my phone's data plan for operation?
    Yes, Entune® relies on your mobile phone's data plan and carrier charges will apply. Each application within Entune® will have different data usage depending on how often you engage each application. Daily use of Pandora® or iHeartRadio use large amounts of data and may have an impact on your cellular data plan. You can take a look at the data calculators provided on your cellular carrier's website or speak with your wireless carrier to understand what data plans would fit you the best.
  • Will Entune® work with my iPad® 10 or iPod® 10 Touch?
    Only smartphones and feature phones are tested and support Entune®.
  • Do I need a special Toyota application downloaded to my phone?
    Yes, there is a Toyota Entune® mobile application that you'll need for vehicle integration. Once you've registered on-line, you can link to your phone’s app store to download it.
  • Does the Voice Recognition system on Entune recognize different languages?
    The system can recognize English, Spanish and French once the language is changed in the system’s setting. For drivers with accents in their speech, the Entune system can now recognize different tonality, inflection points and accents. You can learn more through the use of the voice recognition training feature within the head unit.
  • How do I know if my vehicle has voice recognition capabilities?
    Advanced Voice Recognition is available on select model year 2014 and later Toyota vehicles, and can be used to operate most features within Entune App Suite 7. Voice recognition can be used by pressing the push-to-talk button on your vehicle's steering wheel. For more information, please refer to your Toyota Owner's Manual.
  • What new features does 'Advanced Voice Recognition' add over 'Voice Recognition'?
    "The new Advanced Voice Recognition brings in the following new features that will make it easier for you to interact with your vehicle navigation system:
    • All applications can be launched using voice commands.
    • All applications except Facebook Places and Fuel Guide can be operated using Advanced Voice Recognition, after launching the application.
    • The user will be prompted for smaller pieces of information to clarify a request.
    • The system can remember the context of the speech to allow for more human-like interaction so that the user does not need to repeat the subject.
    • Over 100,000 variations of commands are recognized, and you will be able to speak in a free form manner and still be understood.
    • You can use the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the steering wheel as the central location from which you can launch Voice Recognition for all multimedia functions, including apps, navigation, audio and phone.
  • What applications can I launch with voice commands?
    You can launch all multimedia functions using voice commands, even those apps that do not have Advanced Voice Recognition capabilities after launching, such as Facebook Places and Fuel Guide.
  • What features come with Advanced Voice Recognition?
    All apps within Entune App Suite 7, except for Facebook Places and Fuel Guide, support Advanced Voice Recognition.
  • How do I know what commands to use to control an app?
    Advanced Voice Recognition can recognize a large variety of commands, and you can speak in a free-form sentence and still be understood. There is also a Hint Screen on your vehicle navigation system that displays sample commands that can be spoken, depending on the application that you are trying to operate.
  • How do I use the Push-To-Talk button on the steering wheel?
    The Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on your steering wheel allows you to activate Voice Recognition for all Applications, Navigation, Audio and Phone. All you have to do is press the button, and then say "Launch [Application Name]".
