The interior environment of a building is affected by the systems and materials that are used within the building. Process Green specifies that TMS buildings increase their sustainability by using low-emitting adhesives, sealants, paints, carpet and composite wood. To help ensure a safe and clean working environment, construction techniques such as sequential installation of materials and protection of ductwork during transportation, storage and installation are used to reduce contamination and dust in the air stream.

In addition to making the inside working environment cleaner, Process Green also makes it healthier and more pleasant for TMS employees. At Toyota Logistics Services’ (TLS) Port of Portland Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC), operable windows allow fresh air to circulate through office and break areas unaided by mechanical means and provide outdoor views for at least 90% of the regularly occupied spaces.
