While any injury can be dangerous, head injuries in particular can be fatal. Side-impact or frontal-oblique collisions can cause the head of a vehicle occupant to strike frame elements such as the pillars or roof rails, potentially causing catastrophic injury. To help reduce the risks of these crashes, Toyota has developed special materials and construction methods to reduce any impact to the head.

How does it work?

Toyota has developed impact-absorbing parts that are used for the interior coverings of the pillars and roof rails in its vehicles. These parts collapse during collisions to help reduce the impact to the head.
