Toyota Sustainable Mobility Seminars

About

What do you think of when you hear the terms sustainable mobility, green movement or eco-friendly? You might think of the color green, reusable bags, a hybrid vehicle, a solar panel but chances are your first thought is different than the person sitting next to you.

Environmental issues are the hot topic right now. Everyone and everything is going green. Companies and individuals are taking action and making strides to help the environment and sustain the world we all live and operate in everyday. To ensure we’re moving in the right direction, we must ask ourselves some tough questions: what are resources like oil and water going to look like in the future; what can we do to change that picture; and how much time do we have to do it?

In 2008, the environmental, safety and quality communications department at Toyota Motor Sales began organizing a series of seminars which gather world- renowned experts in science, economics, and urban design together with journalists from around the country to grapple with the key environmental challenges facing society. The purpose of the seminars is to help everyone present understand the current state and future outlook for our natural resources, energy supplies, land use, and technological innovations and how such factors influence Toyota's long-range plans. Toyota representatives address Toyota's current and future plans and how the company plans to deal with the significant challenges ahead as outlined by the experts.

These experts are who Toyota turns to when looking toward the future. Their expertise and research keep us moving forward on the road to sustainability. As a company, Toyota acknowledges that there is no one answer to our future sustainable mobility challenges but we believe the automotive industry is starting to ask the right questions.
