Toyota Vehicles Perform Well in 2005 EPA Fuel Economy Comparisons
The EPA's 2005 Fuel Economy Guide reveals that Toyota and Scion cars, trucks, SUVs, station wagons and minivans are ranked in the top ten of more EPA vehicle categories than those of any other manufacturer. Ratings are based on EPA-estimated city mileage, and actual mileage may vary. Toyota and Scion vehicles have the number one fuel economy position in the Midsize Car, Subcompact Car and Small Station Wagon categories for gasoline-powered vehicles. Moreover, Toyota and Scion hold six of the top ten spots in both the Subcompact Car and Small Station Wagon categories for gasoline-powered vehicles.

Toyota Wins National, State and Local Environmental Awards
Toyota has received the U.S. Department of the Interior's National Take Pride in America Award in the corporate category, recognizing five years of sponsorship of National Public Lands Day. The event is the largest annual one-day volunteer effort to improve public land in the U.S.

Indiana's 2004 Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence has been presented to Toyota for reducing environmental impact at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI) plant in Princeton, Indiana.

The Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life of Southern California and the Los Angeles Interfaith Environmental Council have honored Toyota as Environmentalist of the Year for its commitment to environmental progress. The organizations encourage better environmental practices in Southern California.

Toyota has received Oceana's Partners Award in recognition of its commitment to protecting the world's oceans and the environment. Lexus donated an RX400h luxury hybrid SUV that was auctioned at the awards event to support Oceana's worldwide efforts to preserve ocean life.

Toyota Announces Worldwide Environmental Grants
Toyota has selected recipients for the Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program. A total of 170 million yen (approx. $1.6 million) will be awarded to 16 organizations. Grantees include The Education Resources Institute in India for implementing a community-based decentralized system of supplying safe drinking water, and Asociacion Conjunta Para el Desarrollo Integral in El Salvador for community environmental education and the training of leaders in sustainable activities at village schools.
