Surf Day Cleans Up
Founded in 2005, International Surfing Day was created to allow surfers and other wave-riding enthusiasts to come together in a global celebration of surfing. Call it a day to give thanks, get wet and go surfing; International Surfing Day returns this June 21. |

Whether you're a novice or a pro, shortboarder or longboarder, grom or granddad, International Surfing Day provides surfers worldwide with an opportunity to give thanks to Mother Nature by giving something back. The Surfrider Foundation will be hosting beach cleanup events across the country.
"June 21 is the longest day of the year, so there's no reason not to get out there, get wet and then give something back," says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation spokesperson.
Thanks to Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive®, one lucky surfer will drive off with a 2006 Highlander Hybrid. It's also a great opportunity to keep giving back to the planet after the International Surfing Day is over.
Toyota has donated a 2006 Highlander Hybrid gas/electric midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) -- the world's first seven-passenger hybrid SUV that produces up to 80 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than conventionally powered SUVs.
The Highlander Hybrid will be auctioned online beginning June 19 through June 30. All proceeds from the winning auction will go to the Surfrider Foundation to help in efforts to protect and preserve our world's oceans, waves and beaches. If you would like to participate in the online auction please visit http://www.surfingthemag.com between June 19 and June 30 for more details.

Surfing Magazine's International Surfing Day is presented by Billabong and powered by Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive® -- with additional support from Kustom and VonZipper.
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world's oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 63 chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico, with international affiliates in Australia, Europe, Japan and Brazil.
