Green Cars For the Red Carpet
At first, "Prius limo" seems like an oxymoron. Not so to OZOcar, an upstart New York City limo service. Instead, they see opportunity. OZOcar was co-founded by Jordan Harris, a Board Member of Global Green, an international organization for world security and sustainability. Harris had a hand in organizing Toyota's "Red Carpet--Green Cars" campaign, where Toyota hybrids have transported celebrities to the Academy Awards® ceremonies for the past three years. That project helped inspire Harris to create OZOcar.
Eco luxury
OZOcar's Prius limos feature luxury amenities for riders to choose a kickback or wired experience -- high-speed Internet access, charging sockets, leather-trimmed seats and satellite radio. These perks go a long way to make up for a bit less leg room than the standard limo. OZOcar also has Highlander Hybrids in the fleet, for rides that require extra passenger or luggage room.

The formula has been an instant hit with New Yorkers. Mark Heminway, OZOcar's operations chief, says, "Most people in New York don't own cars. Yellow taxis are the mainstay of individual transportation, and people use car services when they want a little something extra. The black Town Cars and Crown Victorias are the standard car service limo ride, and there are 18,000 of them in the city.

"Prius is different. It has an environmental vibe, and is not a gas eater. People appreciate that, even if they are not paying for a fill-up. OZOcars work their way though heavy traffic a little easier. Once people give it a try, word of mouth takes over and it's been a quick hit. OZOcar is less than a year old and growing rapidly.
