When Toyota redesigns their flagship vehicle, others take note
The 2007 Camry, including Camry Hybrid, was recently given the prestigious title of the 2007 Motor Trend Car of the Year. The competition was fierce, as a total of 27 entries from six countries vied for the title. Camry earned high marks in all of the judging criteria: significance, superiority and value.
With its 187-horsepower gas-electric engine and Hybrid Synergy Drive® technology, Camry Hybrid made quite an impression on the judges. But they couldn’t take our word for it. Camry Hybrid had to prove itself on the highway.

“One of the criticisms leveled against hybrids is that they don’t live up to their claims of fuel economy,” stated Angus MacKenzie, editor in chief of Motor Trend. (January 2007) “That’s certainly not the case here. We found that the Camry Hybrid lived up to its stated city/highway fuel economy of 40/38 miles per gallon.1 In fact, the Camry Hybrid in our long-term test fleet regularly beat the 38-mpg highway rating during commutes -- and that was in Los Angeles.”

Camry Hybrid -- preceded by the 2004 Prius -- is the second environmentally sensitive Toyota to win this award. As the commitment to create fuel-efficient vehicles goes forward, Toyota’s focus will remain the same, with you and the environment first.
