An available system that can use the sun’s rays to keep an electric fan running while the car is parked so that the car’s internal temperature isn’t much hotter than its surrounding external temperature. More Info
Using a sliding glass moonroof packaged with solar panels located over the rear seating area, this Solar Powered Ventilation System can help keep the interior air temperature near the outside ambient temperature when parked directly in the sun.
A Closer Look at the Solar Panel
It is made up of polycrystalline silicon cells that are arranged in a 6x6 grid. These cells generate electricity from the sun as all solar panels do. The panel is actually capable of churning out about 59 watts of power, more than enough to power a fan that can ventilate the cabin when the vehicle is parked. Less Info
*The Solar Roof is designed to use a fan to draw outside air into the cabin to lower the cabin temperature to near the outside ambient temperature, which can make it more comfortable when reentering the vehicle. It must be turned on prior to leaving the vehicle and cannot perform cooling such as could an air conditioner.
Every 20 seconds a child dies from water related disease and nearly 1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. We don’t realize these facts because water is so cheap and available here in the United States. My idea to make the world a better place would be use TOYOTA’s Solar Ventilation Technology to build self contained water purification systems for people who do not have access to this precious resource. The solar powered pump can circulate water through a filter while the UV exposure kills the bacteria in the water. The water could circulate through a purification sensor which can measure when it would be safe for drinking and other uses.
Toyota's Solar Powered Ventilation Technology can help make greener aerobic landfills economically viable worldwide.
Most landfills work "anaerobically." This means organic refuse breaks down without oxygen, creating dangerous methane gas & carbon dioxide. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, trapping 20 times more heat than carbon dioxide. It also degrades the ozone layer.
With Aerobic landfills, air is injected into the refuse, resulting in many benefits:
-Methane & odorous gas production is avoided
-Large reduction in contaminated water runoff
-Refuse breaks down much more quickly, reducing the space needed for landfills
-Safety is enhanced: Preventing explosive gas migration to nearby areas
Drying of crops is a necessary means of preserving food for billions of people. This is acheived by laying crops in the sun. Ultraviolet sunlight breaks down vitamins and flavors in the food. The food is vulnerable to rain (mold), pests, and unsanitary dirt.
A transpired solar collector heats air efficiency by drawing the boundary-layer of solar heated air through small holes. The food could be covered with a transpired collector made of metal, cloth, or any material with the desired color and porosity. The fan would draw air through the solar collector, over the food, and to exhaust. The gently heated air and low pressure of the fan will enhance drying of the food while avoiding the degradation of drying in direct sun.
Poisonous gases like methane are produced and collected in sewage systems by the decomposition of organic household or industrial waste.
In underdeveloped world, a number of workers die every year while working in sewage pipes due to inhaling these poisonous gases while working without wearing oxygen masks.
Solar panels can be fitted at certain points along sewage pipes for solar powered ventilation so that the poisonous gases being produced are continuously discharged from sewage pipes during sunny hours thus ensuring the safety of people working in the sewage pipes.
