Starr Shines Under Lights At Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (August 4, 2006) -- In Friday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, David Starr was the top-finishing Toyota when he recorded a fourth-place finish in his No. 11 Red Horse Racing Tundra. Starr followed race-winner Rick Crawford, Dennis Setzer (second) and Ron Hornaday, Jr. (third) to the checkered flag at the Indianapolis short track.

Germain racing teammates Todd Bodine and Ted Musgrave also registered top-10 finishes at the Indianapolis oval. Bodine, driver of the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra, crossed the finish line seventh. Musgrave, driver of the No. 9 Team ASE Tundra, ended up one spot behind his teammate in eighth-place.

Starr, who ran among the race leaders throughout the 200-lap event, almost passed Hornaday, Jr. for third-place in the late stages of the race. "It was close," said Starr, after the race. "I could get underneath him, but he had the momentum off the corners. I could drive underneath him, but I just couldn't get it to cut quite enough to catch him. I wanted to make sure to stay off him because a couple of times I'd get happy with the throttle and push up into him. I wanted to pass him, but wanted to do it clean -- and I just couldn't get it done."

Tundra drivers following Starr, Bodine and Musgrave to the checkered flag were Johnny Benson (12th), Bill Lester (14th), Mike Skinner (18th), Jack Sprague (28th) and David Reutimann (34th).

In the Friday afternoon qualifying session, David Starr was the fastest Tundra and earned a starting position on the outside of row two. Mike Skinner (eighth) and Jack Sprague (ninth) also qualified among the top-10 at the Indianapolis track.

The next race on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway, Aug. 12. Last year, Tundra driver David Reutimann captured his first career NCTS victory at Nashville in the No. 17 Darrell Waltrip Motorsports Tundra.
