TOYOTA NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (NNCS) - Post-Qualifying Notes & Quotes - Checker Auto Parts 500 -- Phoenix International Raceway -- November 9, 2007BRIAN VICKERS, No. 83 Red Bull Toyota Camry, Team Red Bull
Starting position: 22nd
How was your qualifying lap?
"It's the best we got. I told the guys when I took the finish that it was the best we've been here, for sure. We were way better than the last time we were here. We got everything out of the car that we could for qualifying."
How do you approach the race here at PIR?
"I think some guys focus a lot on forward bite. I focus probably a little bit more on rolling the center. I think a lot of guys focus on the center. I would rather be loose here -- its' always been better for me to be a little bit loose through the center. You know good through the center and loose off. Sometimes in the past you get a little tight in the center and tight off -- and some guys can be successful like that. The way I've done it in the past has been good for us."
JACQUES VILLENEUVE, No. 27 Unicef Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing
Starting position: 27th
Is PIR a tough track?
"It's definitely going to be a tough track to drive on, but it's a lot of fun. After practice this morning we got better and I'm very happy. We weren't very good this morning. The car was going sideways a lot and it wasn't very quick. We changed it for qualifying and I didn't know what to expect -- it worked out fine. The thing was to get in the show and now we have all day tomorrow to work on the car and see where we can run with long runs. In the trucks we are competitive in race trim and hopefully in these cars we can be, too."
How much has driving the other series help?
"The two drive so differently that it actually makes it quite confusing."
JOHNNY BENSON, No. 36 360 OTC Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing
Starting position: 30th
How was your qualifying run?
"We weren't as good as we would have liked to be. We made a huge amount of changes going into qualifying. It was good enough to get us into the race. We'll have to work tomorrow on race stuff and see if we can race good. The main thing was to make the race. I'm pretty excited about it. Everybody at Bill Davis Racing did a good job and we were fortunate to get in."
What do you think about Bill Davis Racing getting all three cars in?
"It's not an easy transition. I'm pretty proud that I was able to go with Wyler Racing to the first Richmond race and make the race. I was glad we were able to get it done here, too. There are a lot of great cars that try to make the races. For all three Bill Davis Racing cars to get in the show -- I think that's a great deal. I know that Dave (Blaney) is locked in, but for Jacques (Villeneuve) and myself to get in is pretty huge. We both qualified pretty close to each other -- I think there was one car between us. I'm glad we got in and I'm looking forward to the race."
What do you think about how qualifying is in the Cup Series?
"I was a little bit on the panic mode heading into qualifying. When you have to qualify to get in, that's how it's going to be. I tried to stay calm. It works on you."
