At TRD, USA, it’s all about power. That’s because TRD, or Toyota Racing Development, is the force behind designing, developing and assembling engines for Toyota’s racing teams. Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, with a facility in Salisbury, North Carolina, TRD also provides chassis engineering and at-track support for our teams. TRD’s expert work under the hood helped NASCAR driver Kyle Busch make racing history in 2010 with first-place finishes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series — all in a single weekend.
TRD also races for more than just trophies. Every year, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race pits popular celebrities against professional race car drivers on a course through the streets of downtown Long Beach and along the Southern California shoreline to help Toyota raise money for charity. In 2011, Toyota donated $5000 for each participant to Racing for Kids, a national organization that supports children’s hospitals in Southern California. Money raised from the race traditionally benefits Miller Children’s Hospital of Long Beach and Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Since Toyota began hosting this event, we’ve donated close to $1.9 million to Racing for Kids.
