At Toyota, we believe protecting the environment is one of our most important contributions to society. That’s why we’re dedicated not only to designing more environmentally sensitive vehicles, but also to making sure our business and manufacturing facilities utilize more sustainable, green practices. It’s a dedication we try to share with and encourage in our partners.
For example, we work closely with our dealers on their building projects to help them be as environmentally friendly as possible. So far, we’ve assisted 11 U.S. Toyota dealerships and 3 U.S. Lexus dealerships, including one in Las Vegas, in obtaining LEED certification. In fact, Kendall Toyota in Eugene, Oregon, is the only LEED Platinum-certified dealership in the world. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, is a green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. It recognizes projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance.
