Can I drive without gasoline in the tank?
You should never drive Prius Plug-in Hybrid without gasoline in the tank. While, under certain conditions, you may drive on electricity alone, the vehicle requires gasoline to operate properly.
Will Prius Plug-in Hybrid qualify for the federal tax incentive?
Individual purchasers of a Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicle may be able to take advantage of the Federal Qualified Plugin Electric Drive Motor Vehicle tax credit. Prius Plug-in may qualify for an additional state tax credit in addition to the federal credit. The Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicle tax credit is currently estimated to be $2,500. Do I need extra charging equipment for a Prius Plug-in Hybrid?
The car comes with a standard 120V charging cable. Toyota strongly recommends a heavier-duty 15-amp or 20-amp wall receptacle with GFCI (Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter) and a dedicated 15-amp or 20-amp circuit for use with your charging cable. Should you run out of electric charge, Prius Plug-in Hybrid will seamlessly shift back into hybrid mode.

EV Mode is great for those shorter trips. Prius Plug-in Hybrid has an EPA-rated driving range of up to 11 miles in EV Mode, and you'll be able to cover them quickly since it's capable of traveling up to 62 mph on electric power alone.

LED headlights/Daytime Running Lights
They say being bright sometimes skips a generation. Not in this case. Available eco-sensitive LED (light-emitting diode) headlights offer extremely long life, using 20% to 30% less energy than traditional headlights. Plus, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are on all Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicles, so you’re more visible to oncoming traffic during daylight.

Charging smarter
We wanted to make charging easy. Using advanced technology, Prius Plug-in Hybrid’s Lithium-ion battery charges in three hours from a standard 120V AC outlet, or about half that time from a 240V charger.

The partnership between Leviton® and Toyota makes it easy to turn your garage into a home charging station. Selected by Toyota as the approved provider of electric vehicle charging stations, Leviton® will expertly install either a 120V charger or 240V charger. Seat adjustment
Whether hauling cargo, friends or a combination of the two, Prius Plug-in Hybrid seats can be adjusted to suit your needs. Rear seats can be folded down for increased cargo room. Up front, seats have a height adjustment, tilt, and can be moved forward or back.
SofTex®-trimmed seats
Prius Plug-in Hybrid is even smart about comfort. Our available SofTex® trim material weighs about half as much as genuine leather. And the way it's made generates around 85% fewer CO2 emissions and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) than conventional synthetic leather.
Remote Climate
Standard on all Prius Plug-in Hybrids is the Remote Climate feature, which allows you to turn on the AC in your vehicle remotely from your key fob. The AC will run for up to ten minutes, cooling your vehicle before you ever get inside. If the vehicle is plugged in, it will run off the grid, saving your battery charge. Prius Plug-in Hybrid Advanced owners can also run this system from their smartphone by using the Entune® Plug-in Hybrid Apps.
Active headrests
Active headrests are designed to help prevent neck injury in certain types of rear-end collisions. That’s why Prius Plug-in Hybrid comes equipped with active headrests in both front seats.

Entune® Plug-in Hybrid Apps
Control many of your vehicle’s functions remotely right from your smartphone. The available Entune® Plug-in Hybrid Apps let you check your vehicle’s state of charge, find nearby charging stations, turn on the vehicle’s air conditioning, locate your vehicle, or track your ECO Driving Score remotely from your compatible device.
Bluetooth®/USB port/aux
Like the rest of the Family, Prius Plug-in Hybrid showed its musical ability early. A USB port enables iPod® connectivity and control, and there’s an auxiliary audio jack for other music players. The system also features Bluetooth® hands-free phone capability and audio streaming.
Backup camera
Anytime you put Prius Plug-in Hybrid in Reverse, an image of what’s visible to the integrated backup camera will appear on the touch-screen display.

Head-Up Display
Prius Plug-in Hybrid’s available Head-Up Display (HUD) shows the current speed, Hybrid System Indicator and turn-by-turn navigation directions just below driver eye level on the windshield. You can also adjust brightness and display position, all without taking your eyes off the road.
Energy monitor
It’s important to pace yourself. So, Prius Plug-in Hybrid always runs as efficiently as possible. The energy monitor screen lets you know the operation of the engine and hybrid system in real time, with the Hybrid Synergy Drive® using the most efficient source of power based on driving conditions.
Steering wheel-mounted controls
Prius Plug-in Hybrid offers Touch Tracer Display, which allows you to use the steering wheel-mounted controls for audio, climate, and Bluetooth® hands-free phone and voice-command functions.
Smart Key System and Push Button Start
When you are within three feet of your Prius Plug-in Hybrid with the Smart Key fob in your pocket or purse, the interior lights automatically illuminate, the driver’s door can be unlocked with just a touch, and the vehicle can be started with the push of a button.
Electronic shifter
Another thing Prius Plug-in Hybrid sets you free from is a conventional shifting system. Its electronic shifter is easier to shift, and smaller and lighter than traditional systems.
DRCC and Pre-Collision System
Prius Plug-in Hybrid’s available Dynamic Radar Cruiser Control (DRCC) automatically adjusts speed to help maintain a constant, preset following distance between you and the car directly in front of you. Helping keep you safer is the available Pre-Collision System (PCS), which uses radar to help determine if a frontal collision is unavoidable, and, if so, automatically applies the brakes and retracts the front seatbelts to help prepare for it.

Seven airbags
Keeping the family safe is just second nature. Prius Plug-in Hybrid comes standard with seven airbags, including both driver and front passenger airbags, as well as a knee airbag to further enhance the driver’s protection.
Star Safety System™
Prius Plug-in Hybrid comes standard with the Star Safety System™, a suite of six advanced safety features that includes enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology® (SST).
LATCH
To help protect smaller family members, every Prius Plug-in Hybrid comes equipped with a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) restraint system. With lower anchors on outboard rear seats, LATCH lets you properly and securely restrain child safety seats to help keep younger passengers safe.
Safety Connect®

Tire Pressure Monitor System
