Getting to Know the G-Man
The newest member of the Toyota Tundra Fishing Team
Most Memorable reaction you’ve ever received to the graphic wrap on your truck?
There have been several occasions where individuals, including police officers, ran me down at rest areas to get an autograph.
If you could only have three lures to use for the next 12 months what would they be?
1. 3/8 oz., brown Arkie jig with a Zoom Green Pumpkin Super Chunk.
2. ½ oz., blue back herring colored War Eagle Spinnerbait
3. Lucky Craft Gunfish topwater lure in American Shad color
Favorite place in the world to be when I’m not fishing?
The beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama. Sitting on the beach in a blue rocking chair with a frosty golden beverage in my right hand would be the perfect situation.
One type of Well-known Bass fishing lure that I Rarely ever use?
Carolina Rig
Best tournament town to visit, not necessarily related to the fishing, and why:
Chippewa Falls, WI, because the people were so friendly there.
Fast food establishment you’re most likely to see my Tundra parked at:
Waffle House
3 Features that I appreciate most about my Tundra:
381-hp under the hood, my in-dash GPS navigation system and my built-in back-up camera.
Estimated number of fishing rods that I own:
75
Estimated number of miles I’ll drive my Tundra this year:
36,000
My biggest fear:
None that I can think of.
If I could only have 3 CDs to listen to in my Tundra over the next 30,000 miles they would be:
Nickleback
Kid Rock
T.I.
The single most important bass I’ve ever caught in my life:
I like to say it was “the day that ‘G’caught Clyde”. Clyde, as I have since nicknamed him, weighed 10.5 pounds. I caught him at the Clear Lake, California at the 2007 Bassmaster Elite Series event. Clyde put me over the 100-pound mark and entered me into the Heavy Weight Club.
The coolest thing I did during the most recent off-season:
I took my brother hunting, and was there to witness him taking his first buck with a bow. My brother was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer the month prior to that hunting trip.
My favorite sports team:
Atlanta Braves
The biggest misconception related to pro anglers:
That we all get help from the local anglers to help us find fish before our tournament starts.
