Styled in California and Michigan

Before it rolls down the assembly line or appears in a showroom, Tundra was first styled in California and Michigan. We created Tundra with the American consumer in mind right from the start. Inspiration was taken from all over the nation to design the legendary new Tundra.

4x4 Limited Double Cab shown in Barcelona Red Metallic with TRD Off-Road Package and Limited Premium Package

Engineered in Michigan

The journey continues to Michigan, where engineering is done on the mighty Tundra. Home to some of the harshest conditions a truck could ever face helps the engineering team make sure Tundra can tackle everything the weekend, the work site and your family can throw at it.

4x4 Limited Double Cab shown in Barcelona Red Metallic with TRD Off-Road Package and Limited Premium Package

Built in Texas

Tundra is assembled with pride by a dedicated team in San Antonio, Texas,* with 75% of the parts from the U.S. or Canada.* In fact, 1794 Edition takes its name from the year the ranch on which the Toyota plant now sits was founded. We are committed for the long haul to building the most capable full-size pickup truck on the planet.

*Assembled in Texas with U.S. and globally sourced parts.

5.7L V8

The legendary iForce 5.7L V8 delivers 381 hp and 401 lb.-ft of torque and is matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission—a combo ideal for heavy-duty towing 8. Add an Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) to maximize torque, tubular exhaust headers to minimize back pressure, and available 4WDemand part-time 4WD system and you've got a drivetrain strong enough to tow a space shuttle. 13

View Video

4.6L V8

The powerful i-FORCE 4.6L V8 delivers 310 hp and 327 lb.-ft. of torque and is matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and 4WDemand part-time 4WD drivetrain help get the job done. And with VVT-i and 32 valves that make the most of the engine's output, all the power you need is ready when you need it.

4.0L V6

The efficient 4.0L V6 with 270 hp and 278 lb.-ft. of torque is mated
to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Add Double Overhead Cams (DOHC) and Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), and you’ve got one capable truck.

Towing capacity

It pulled the space shuttle...so, yeah, it can handle your trailer and boat. 13 Tundra is available in six models that can tow more than five tons, 8 and 4x2 Regular Cab Long Bed with available 5.7L V8 has an available towing capacity of up to 10,500 lbs.

Towing hitch receiver

Tundra models equipped with the available i-FORCE 5.7L V8 and Tow Package come with an integrated towing hitch receiver. Attached far down the frame rails using a dozen high-strength bolts, the hitch features a hydro-formed cross member for increased towing strength. 8

Massive ring gear

A truck is only as strong as its weakest link—so to handle the torque of Tundra’s available 5.7L V8, our engineers fitted the rear differential with a massive 10.5-inch ring gear. Under the stresses of heavy loads, the ring gear is critical when power is transferred to the rear axle.

View Specs

TOW/HAUL Mode

Included on Tundra models with the 5.7L V8 and Tow Package is a TOW/HAUL Mode for the 6-speed automatic transmission that extends the use of the lower gear ranges, helping to prevent the transmission from awkwardly shifting or “hunting” for the right gear when towing. The system also increases acceleration, pulling power and engine braking. 8

Payload

Landscaping, remodeling, or enough gear for the entire team. Any truck can carry around a big bed on the back, but Tundra’s bed also offers an available Deck Rail System to help you secure and access your cargo. No matter what’s on your list, when properly equipped, Tundra can help tackle it with an available 2,000-lb. hauling capacity. 14 Let’s load up and move out.

What is it?

SAE J2807 is a standard for tow ratings set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Toyota agreed to adopt the standard early, and is the only manufacturer to have done so on all of our trucks. In fact, since 2010, the entire Tundra lineup has been SAE J2807 compliant.

View Video

SR5 Double Cab Long Bed shown in Silver Sky Metallic with available 18-in. 5-spoke alloy wheels and tow mirrors 8

Why is it important?

When you are towing a heavy load, your boat or your RV, the last thing you want to be worried about is whether or not your truck can handle it. This is why SAE J2807 was created. If there are different standards for everyone it makes it hard to make an honest comparison. This only hurts one person: the customer.

Tundra: The only SAE J2807 compliant Full-Size Pickup

Tow confident: Toyota is the only maker of full-size trucks that complies with the J2807 standards established by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Our customers hold us to a very high standard, and we want to do the same for ourselves.

Class-leading front brakes

Power is nothing without control. Tundra features class-leading 15 13.9-inch rotors with four-piston calipers up front, and 13.6-inch rotors in the rear for impressive stopping power. We built it the way you would.

Auto Limited-Slip Differential

Auto LSD works like a traditional limited-slip differential—with a high-tech twist. Instead of controlling slip mechanically, Auto LSD applies brakes individually to wheels with no traction. This helps give you control and distributes power where it’s most effective.

View Video

Limited Double Cab shown in Barcelona Red Metallic with available TRD Off-Road Package and running boards

Active Traction Control

The added traction of 4WD is great—but with A-TRAC, it’s even better. A-TRAC is a 4WD traction control system that works with Auto LSD to help restore traction no matter where your job site may be.

View Video

Trailer-Sway Control

Big trucks tow big toys so Tundra comes standard with Trailer Sway Control (TSC). 16 TSC works in two ways: by detecting trailer sway and applying brake pressure at individual wheels, and by controlling engine torque to help stabilize the trailer, and your precious boat.

View Video

Limited Double Cab shown in Barcelona Red Metallic with available TRD Off-Road Package and running boards

Vehicle Stability Control

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) 17 helps prevent front and rear wheel slip. If VSC detects a loss of traction, two things can happen to help correct the problem: first, engine output is reduced; then, brake force is applied to individual wheels as needed.

All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death.
