It just makes sense: vehicles destined for American drivers and roads should be shaped by the people who know them best. That’s why so much of what rolls off our assembly lines here is imagined here. We have world-class design, research and development facilities throughout the U.S., from Virginia to Michigan, Arizona to California. And thousands of the brightest thinkers from all across America who call those facilities home. Check out what they’re doing to put more inspiration, intelligence and fun into every mile.
Toyota Technical Center of North America (TTC) has a mission with no end: Continually advancing the engineering, technology and safety of our vehicles. Our leading technical center outside of Japan, TTC has been the driving force behind our North American engineering and R&D activities for the past 25 years. Today, more than 1,100 engineers, scientists and technologists work relentlessly at TTC facilities in California and Michigan, and at our proving grounds in Arizona, to develop some of the smartest, most advanced cars and trucks we've ever created.*

When good ideas are shared, great things happen. And our Collaborative Safety Research Center (CSRC) is living proof of that. It’s a radical approach to vehicle safety research. The idea is: By sharing our technology and our knowledge openly with others, breakthroughs in safety can happen more quickly. Located at our Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, CSRC welcomes researchers from major universities and safety institutes, and even from other vehicle manufacturers. CSRC is a $50 million commitment that we’re very happy to make. Because the more safe the roads are, the better it is for everyone.*

How do you improve on one of industry’s most effective production systems? You share it. Since 1992, our Toyota Production System Support Center team (TSSC) has shown over 200 businesses and nonprofits how to apply basic concepts of the Toyota Production System (TPS) to their own operations: from optimizing a furniture assembly line, to helping volunteers rebuild hurricane-damaged homes faster, and more. In 2011, we made TSSC a not-for-profit, to share our know-how more broadly. Our goal is to help more companies and nonprofits improve their processes and maximize their impact. Because the more we can help our communities and our neighbors, the more they can help others.
