Indicates that the Cruise Control is on.

Cruise Control is a feature designed to maintain a set speed on the open road, without requiring the driver to hold down the accelerator pedal. The control stalk has a master ON/OFF switch, a speed SET function, and a +/- function that provides moderate acceleration or coasting/deceleration.

If the indicator light illuminates in yellow, it indicates a malfunction cruise control/dynamic radar cruise control system.

Once you have reached the desired speed and cruise control has been activated, the SET indicator will be illuminated. Cruise control can be set when the automatic transmission shift lever is in D when vehicle speed is above 25 mph.

Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their seat belts.

Correction procedure: Fasten the seat belt.

The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver and/or front passenger that their seat belts are not fastened. If the driver’s seat belt is not fastened, the buzzer will sound for 6 seconds once the POWER switch is turned to ON mode. If the vehicle reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), the buzzer will sound once. If the seat belt is still unfastened after 30 seconds, the buzzer will sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.

On Toyota Hybrids, the READY light will illuminate a few seconds after the POWER switch has been pressed. The vehicle can move once the READY Indicator is on, even if the engine is stopped.

If the READY indicator changes from a flashing light to a solid light and the buzzer sounds, the hybrid system is starting normally.

Indicates that the Eco Mode is on.

This drive mode in the Toyota Prius hybrid restricts throttle input so the engine uses less fuel and adjusts the air conditioning system so that it runs more efficiently. Use the Eco Mode to help achieve better fuel economy during trips that involve frequent accelerating and braking (like your daily commute).

During Eco-friendly acceleration (Eco driving), Eco Driving Indicator Light will turn on. If acceleration exceeds the Zone of Eco Driving, or the vehicle is stopped, the light turns off.  The indicator light will not operate if the shift lever is in any position other than D; the paddle shifters are used (if equipped); the vehicle speed is approximately 80 mph (130 km/h) or higher. The Eco Driving Indicator can be activated or deactivated.  Consult your owner‘s manual for more details.

Indicates that the vehicle is in Electric Vehicle (EV) Drive Mode.

Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) is designed to propel a vehicle by combining an electric motor with a gasoline engine and using each its best advantage. EV-Drive Mode enables the driver to operate the vehicle as an electric vehicle (EV) without using the gas engine. EV-Drive Mode is engaged by pushing a switch on the dashboard, but will only activate if certain conditions have been met. Some of these conditions relate to hybrid system temperature, coolant temperature, road speed, battery charge, accelerator pedal position, etc. When in EV-Drive mode, an indicator light on the dashboard illuminates. Pressing the switch when in EV-Drive Mode will return the vehicle to normal mode.

Indicates that the Fog Lights are turned on.

Fog Lights are low-mounted lights aimed at the pavement directly in front of the vehicle. These lights are designed to shine under the fog rather than into it, and are therefore less prone to reflect light beams back into the driver‘s eyes.

High beam headlamps aid driver visibility by projecting a bright beam far down the road. They should only be used in situations where they cannot blind oncoming traffic. Typical uses would be in remote areas such as mountains or deserts.

Outer frame of indicator flashes when the hybrid battery (traction battery) level becomes low because the shift position is left in N for a long time.

Because recharging is not possible when the shift position is in N, shift the shift position to P when parking the vehicle for a long time.

Indicates that maintenance is required according to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule.

Warning light detail
Illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about 15 seconds approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after the maintenance data has been reset.

Correction:
If necessary, perform maintenance.

Comes on and remains on if the distance driven exceeds 5000 miles (8000 km) after the maintenance data has been reset. (The indicator will not work properly unless the maintenance data has been reset).

Perform the necessary maintenance. Please reset the maintenance data after maintenance has been performed. Consult your owner’s manual for more details.

Prius V-2012-{{imageAltName}}P Position request indicator light (warning buzzer)

This light flashes under the following conditions:

When the vehicle has been parked in N (instead of P) for an extended period and the amount of charge remaining in the hybrid battery has fallen; the driver’s door has been opened while the shift position is in N, D or B; an attempt has been made to start the hybrid system while the shift position is in anything but P.

The PWR mode indicator illuminates when the PWR MODE switch has been depressed. Use when high levels of response and feeling are desirable, such as when driving in mountainous regions or when overtaking. Press the PWR MODE switch again to cancel the power mode.

Indicates a malfunction in the pre-collision system. The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system is not malfunctioning:

  • The light will flash quickly when the system is operating
  • The light will turn on when the pre-collision braking is disabled


The light may also turn on to indicate that the PCS is not currently functional because the grille cover or the radar sensor is dirty, or the system has overheated.

Correction procedures:

  • Clean the grille cover and the radar sensor
  • Allow the system to cool down

Indicates that the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode in the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system has been turned on.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control supplements conventional cruise control with a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. In vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, the vehicle automatically accelerates or decelerates in order to maintain a set following distance from vehicles ahead.

If the indicator light illuminates in yellow, it indicates a malfunction cruise control/dynamic radar cruise control system.

When the light comes on: Low tire inflation pressure.

Correction Procedure:
Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level. The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case the light does not turn off, even if the tire inflation pressure is adjusted, have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

Warning light detail:
When light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system.

Correction Procedure:
Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

Indicates that the turn signal is on.

If the indicator flashes faster than usual, check that a light bulb in the front or rear turn signal lights has not burned out.

Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS airbag warning lights not come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these systems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death or serious injury.
