10 Questions with Jhonnathan Castro

Jhonnathan Castro smiles at the driver meeting.10 Questions with Jhonnathan Castro
What series and car are you currently in?

Formula Drift - Toyota TRD GT86

Describe your first win.

Was by 2009 when we compete on the first Dominican Rep Drift championship, that race was the official opening of the series, it was by that time we create one of the coolest events cause it was like a festival with drift competition on the day and at night was a huge concert with many artist including Calle 13.

Jhonnathan Castro drifts his Toyota 86 into the corner.
For the drifting we brought 2 FD drivers ( Casper Canul and Calvin Wang) with their cars for them to do some drift demos and be our judges.

Why this one means a lot to me? Simple, I have all kinds of problems with the car giving me no option to show up at the event 10 min before Qualy, I did only one practice lap with the car only 50% of where it should be + this was a new track layout. We did get to qualify 1st, but after that we were fighting every min, every sec to be on track and beat whoever was next to us, and I still remember that day like it was yesterday, every sec was like on slow motion because of the gremlins + battling guys with more seat time and better cars them us was a very Hight mountain to climb but we were up for the challenge.
Every battle that we win was like we loss a bag of rock of my shoulder, every time that we change the tires was like a boost of energy for us, every time that I warm up the tires was like a fresh day to start all over again with nothing to lose.

Until the finals, by the time we make to the finals was when I stop for a second I and feel like this is where I belong, this feels right and set my mind for a killer mind, warm up the tires and set my sell to give everything that I have on that last battle, we won the race but most importantly we as a team show that team work is the key of any team, no matter how much budget you have team work will overcome anything And always keep pushing forward.
