10 Questions with Ken Gushi

Ken Gushi with his new Supra for the 2020 Formula Drift season.10 Questions with Ken Gushi

What series and car are you currently in?
I’m competing in Formula Drift with a Toyota Supra!

Describe your first win.
My first win was back in 2005. I remember feeling accomplished and ecstatic about being on the top step of the podium! However, my most recent win at the series finals tops any win I’ve had in my career. Irwindale Speedway is my home-track and to win in front of my home crowd was truly an experience I will never forget. In fact, I was so happy that I cried!!

What is your favorite workout at the gym?
I am a runner, so I enjoy using the treadmill while I’m at the gym. I normally don’t go to the gym to work out since I have some equipment at home. I also don’t need a treadmill to run as I can do that outdoors! Fun fact: I’ve run 4 full marathons! 3 in LA and 1 in Honolulu! My best finish is a 3:54!

What is your most memorable birthday gift?
When I turned 30y/o, my father gifted me a 30th anniversary Karsten PING putter, and bottle of 30year whisky!

What is your go-to karaoke song?
Pokemon - Gotta Catch ‘Em All!!

What TV show are you binge watching right now?
I was watching Terrace House on Netflix.

Besides racing, what activity do you enjoy doing?
I really enjoy spending time at the shop either fabricating some parts for my race car, or street cars. I really don’t spend much time outside of the shop. If anything, I enjoy running and spending time with my dog! When I am at home, you will find me on my simulator playing Gran Turismo Sport or Animal Crossing!

Who is your racing idol?
Lewis Hamilton! He is truly an inspiration.

What sports teams are you a fan of?
Besides the TMG Rally team? Lakers!

If you weren’t a race car driver, what would you be doing?
That’s a tough question that I always find hard to answer. If I weren’t a driver, I’d be a builder! Another fun fact: I studied economics while in college!
