Early in Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway it looked as though it was going to be a very long day for Kyle Busch and his Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Collected in an accident on the first lap of the race, Busch and his No. 18 team dug deep and worked their way through the field to win for the eighth time at Bristol. The 500-lap race came down to a restart with under 20 laps to go when the Las Vegas native fended off a hard challenge from his brother, Kurt Busch, for his third victory in 2019.
“We just do what we do, try to win. It's pretty awesome to be able to snooker those guys, get our win today here at Bristol. Love this place,” Busch said. He described what the final laps battling his brother Kurt (Busch), “It was fun to battle out the brother there at the end. I know we didn't quite get side‑by‑side racing it out.
