Martin Truex Jr. drove his Camry to victory lane in Saturday night’s at Richmond Raceway – a fitting location for his Toyota at the Toyota Owners 400! Truex led a race-high 186 (of 400) en route to his 20th career MENCS win, 18th in a Toyota and first at a short track.
“I’m really excited to win here at Richmond,” said Truex. “I’ve always really enjoyed this track. I’ve always loved coming here. The short track win – everybody kept asking me when it was going to happen. Tonight we didn’t have the best car, but we’ve lost here with the best car a bunch of times. Toyota Owners 400 – to win here in a Toyota was huge.”
Truex continues an impressive streak by Toyota drivers in 2019 who have now won six of the last nine Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) – including the last three in a row.
Denny Hamlin (fifth), who tonight made his 400thMENCS start in a Toyota, and Kyle Busch (eighth) also finished in the top 10 at Richmond.
