It was a day of unpredictability Sunday afternoon for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series visit to Talladega Superspeedway, but through the battle, Kyle Busch was able to continue his top-10 streak for every Cup Series race this season.

With a new package on display and a wicker on the spoiler, Busch fought hard and it was a caution on the white-flag lap that ended the race early with Busch finishing ninth. It looked like the No. 18 driver would have a shot at victory on a late race restart from the second spot, but things didn’t work in his favor. “We restarted outside front row and I thought the 1 (Kurt Busch) behind me would want to race for the win and not just fall in line behind Fords and in front of Chevrolets and he would go with us a little bit there. Team order prevailed I guess.” His Toyota teammates didn’t have the same luck as the Las Vegas native, all being involved in separate incidents during the 500-mile race.

Erik Jones finished 19th, Martin Truex Jr. 20th, Jeffrey Earnhardt 22nd, Parker Kligerman 27th, Matt DiBenedetto 31st and Denny Hamlin 36th.

The Cup Series will head north to Dover International Speedway (Dover, Delaware) Sunday afternoon May 5th.
