Martin Truex Jr. had that Monday feeling and it was a winning feeling in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Monday afternoon. The Mayetta, New Jersey native picked up his third victory at the Monster Mile and second of the 2019 season.

Led by crew chief Cole Pearn, Truex charged from the rear of the field to take over the lead on lap 240, going on to lead 132 laps.

Four hundred laps at Dover wasn’t a cakewalk.

“I promise it wasn’t easy. It was a lot of work. It was tough. But this race car was just incredible. Just thanks to everyone who makes this possible. I can’t believe it,” Truex said.  “Without Talladega, we would have had two in a row. It is special. I am really, really proud to drive these Toyotas. They are awesome and I am a lucky guy.”

All things also clicked for Erik Jones today as the Joe Gibbs Racing driver earned a sixth-place finish.

“We felt like we were better than a couple cars in front of us,” said Jones. “We just couldn’t quite get there. Just a long day. It was tough to pass and you really had to rely on track position and getting good restarts and getting good pit stops. A solid day for us.”

Kyle Busch continued his record-breaking top-10 streak as he extended the mark to 11 straight in 2019.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Cup Series as teams head to Kansas Speedway for Saturday night racing on May 11th.
