Four set for the Playoffs
Four Toyotas officially set for the Playoffs after Indianapolis
The Playoff field is set and four Team Toyota drivers will vie for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Denny Hamlin led Toyota’s efforts in the regular season finale, Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with sixth-place finish.
“Just frustrated. We finished sixth, but you just can’t pass,” said Hamlin. “We would run like a second slower running behind someone. Got a bad restart on that last restart and went back to 10th or so, so I was happy to rebound to sixth. Wish we would have had a shot to get up front at somepoint. Just couldn’t overcome the traffic.”
The remainder of the Toyota contingent Matt DiBenedetto, Martin Truex Jr., Parker Kligerman, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones all suffered on-track incidents after all five had strong early efforts. The Playoffs kick off next weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Busch will start as the top seed, with teammates Hamlin, Truex Jr. and Jones also vying for the crown.
