Martin Truex Jr. led the way for the Team Toyota drivers in Sunday afternoon’s 500-mile race at Texas Motor Speedway. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing driver finished sixth with teammates Kyle Busch seventh and Erik Jones 10th, while Leavine Family Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto finished 14th. Denny Hamlin earned a 28th-place finish after an incident early in the race.

“We all know one guy is going to move through on points and we have to do whatever we have to do in order to be that guy. If we can obviously go to Phoenix and have a strong run and be able to go out there and win, that will put ourselves through as well too,” Busch said. “We’re two (points) on the 22 (Joey Logano) so it’s going to be a race between the 18 and the 22, imagine that.”

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to ISM Raceway for the final race in the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs. Truex Jr. has locked himself into the Championship 4 while Playoff teammates Busch and Hamlin hope to lock spots next Sunday afternoon.
