A little field trip through the grass during stage two of Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway couldn’t hold Kyle Busch down. The 2019 Cup Series Champion would rebound and bring home a fourth-place finish at the Fort Worth-based track.

Busch started the race from the fourth spot and had an eventful day inside his No. 18 Camry. While the Las Vegas native suffered damage, he continued on to finish inside the top five. “We came a long way today. We got a lot of damage on the frontend of the car that you can’t see with the eye. Going through the grass, it killed it,” Busch said. “I thought early on in the first stage, second stage maybe that we had a second-place car and then as the day went, we just kept getting further and further behind. Still a lot of work to do. The car didn’t drive very good at all. Just was able to get something out of nothing there at the end. Thanks to Interstate Batteries, M&M’s, Toyota, TRD, Rowdy Energy – we’ll go to Kansas.”

Teammate Erik Jones joined Busch inside the top 10 with a sixth-place finish. Denny Hamlin finished 20th, Christopher Bell 21st, Daniel Suárez 23rd and Martin Truex Jr. 29th after being involved in an earlier incident.
