Kyle Busch drove his No. 18 Supra to victory lane for a second-consecutive weekend in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, capturing his 94th series win at ISM Raceway on Saturday afternoon.
Busch led 116 laps (of 200), sharing the lead with his teammate, Christopher Bell, who led 68 laps and won the second stage after starting from the pole position. The win was also Busch’s 198th career NASCAR national series win as he is two wins away from tying the all-time record.
Bell was running third on Lap 129 when another car lost an engine and a cloud of smoke blanketed the race track in front of him. Unable to see, Bell’s Toyota hit oil on the track and ended up in the wall, ending his day as he finished 30th.
Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Brandon Jones (seventh) also finished in the top 10.
“Any race we’re allowed to enter, I try to enter. We pick and choose wisely, but there’s only so many to choose from. Of course, having the opportunity to come out here and race when you do, you try to go out there and win. That’s what we did today. I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to get it there early on, but that’s why we run these things out to the end.” ~Kyle Busch, No. 18 Extreme Concepts iK9 Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing
“We’ve been running great so far all year long. Just missed it a little bit here, but we’ve got another race here towards the end of the year and that’s the one that really matters when it’s close to the Playoffs.” ~ Brandon Jones, No. 19 Juniper Toyota Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing
