Christopher Bell had Bristol Motor Speedway circled on the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) schedule as a race track that he wanted to conquer. Not only was it a track where he hadn’t won previously, but also it was the first ‘Dash 4 Cash’ race of the 2019 season.
Bell took the lead in Saturday’s NXS race with 18 laps remaining and held on to take the checkered flag to not only make his first trip to victory lane at the historic half-mile bullring, but also claim the $100,000 bonus check for the ‘Dash 4 Cash.’
“We had a really good start with our Toyota Supra and were running I think fourth or something at the end of stage one,” said Burton. “We got way too tight in the second stage and blew a right-front (tire), got into the fence and then kind of made a rally back to tenth I think is where we finished. It was definitely an up and down day. It was a crazy experience to come out and race these cars. I felt like I was at home so that was good and I had a lot of fun doing it.”
The NXS will head to Richmond Raceway for the ToyotaCare 250 next Friday night.
