It was Harrison Burton’s day Saturday afternoon in Southern California. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver earned his first-career NASCAR Xfinity Series victory at Auto Club Speedway. Burton led 40 laps on the way to winning the 300-mile event.

All we’ve heard is we can’t do it, we can’t do it, we’ll never do what last year’s 20 did,” Burton said. “There’s times when you go through a little bit of a drought and just doubt yourself. To get a win feels so good, especially after last year when we struggled a little bit. Really proud of our guys.”

We’ve worked really hard this off-season,” Herbst said. “We’ve read everything and heard everything – that we’re not ready for this, that we can’t do this in this series. Keep on talking because we’re coming for more wins this year for sure.”

Brandon Jones flexed muscle early the race by leading the first two stages but ran into tire issues during the afternoon’s third stage. Jones finished 30th after leading a race high 73 laps.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Phoenix Raceway on Saturday afternoon March 7th.
