Harrison Burton Shows Texas Strength

Harrison Burton led the way for Team Toyota in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver finished fourth at the Fort Worth, TX-based facility.

Burton was happy with his day but knew he had more in the tank. “It was tough, it’s definitely a single lane racetrack again, which made it tough on the restarts and things like that. But we were really fast and I was proud of that. I think our team has taken the right steps, the results haven’t shown it the past few weeks, but it’s been going better and better.”

Teammate Brandon Jones finished seventh, Riley Herbst 36th and Kyle Busch, who crossed the finish line first in the event, but was scored 37th after failing post-race tech inspection.

Riley Herbst entered Texas Motor Speedway looking to back up his strong runs at Kentucky. However, things didn’t play into Herbst’s favor after the No. 9 tagged the rookie driver and ended his day early. “Honestly sucks, I hate it for guys at Joe Gibbs Racing. I think it was lap four or five, just kind of learning the racetrack here,” Herbst said. “First time for me at Texas Motor Speedway and the 9 (Noah Gragson) car decided to run through us, so a real shame and I hate it my guys, Monster Energy everybody. But he’s got a lot more to lose than I do, so we’ll see what happens.”
