Four For Four in 19

March 29 2019 Busch Capture NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series at Texas Motor SpeedwayFour For Four in 19

It was Kyle Busch’s night under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway. The Las Vegas native lassoed his fourth consecutive NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series victory of the 2019 season in the 147-lap race.

It wasn’t a cakewalk to victory lane for Busch, “The 24 (Brett Moffitt) was, who I was really worried about and then something happened with him and then the 52 (Stewart Friesen) was really fast and right there on our tailgate the whole finish of that race until about the last five laps,” said Busch. “I don’t know if he just got heated up or what back there. He put up a good fight and about got to me a couple of times there and fortunately I was just able to hold out and keep the Cessna Tundra upfront and keep it out front.”

It was a banner night for Team Toyota rookie Tyler Ankrum fought his way for a top-10 finish equaling his career-best top-10 finish. It was a tough night for fellow drivers Todd Gilliland, Anthony Alfrado and Harrison Burton who all encountered issues in the caution filled event with 14th, 28th and 31st-place finishes respectively.

“I just couldn’t believe that in my first mile-and-a-half we have this kind of a finish, this strong of a run,” said Ankrum. “We actually raced upfront. We were contenders and halfway through that race I was playing with traffic and the leaders checked out, and I thought that race was going to go green until the end. Thank the Lord that caution came out. Thanks to (Kevin) Bono (Manion) with strategy. It’s kind of still surreal.”
