“In practice I thought this was going to be our night,” said Gilliland. “We executed a really good race, so that’s one thing I’m really proud of and I felt like I drove a good race. This is a brand new truck so a good job to everyone at Kyle Busch Motorsports. This is one of the fastest Tundras I’ve had yet, and we just need to keep this momentum rolling.”Tundra driver Christian Eckes led a race-high 57 laps (of 160) during the event and looked to have a career night running in the top-three in the closing laps, however he was involved in an incident on the final lap and finished 14th.
Sixteen-year-old Toyota development driver Chandler Smith finished fourth-place in just his second NGOTS race. Smith made his Truck Series debut last weekend at Iowa Speedway where he earned an eighth-place result.
The NGOTS will compete at Chicagoland Speedway on Friday, June 28 at 9 p.m. EDT.
