Historic. That defines the race weekend for Team Toyota drivers. Kyle Busch earned his 200th NASCAR victory across the top three series and Richie Crampton won the 50th Gatornationals in NHRA.
When asked about the accomplishment, Busch simply responded.
“Feels just like number one. Feels just like yesterday.”
Crampton knew the Gatornationals were big and he needed to be atop of his game against the NHRA Top-Fuel competition.
“We live and die on our reaction times. Coming into the race today, I knew I needed to be on it. The field we have in Top Fuel now is the cream of the crop. You're winning and losing everything on the starting line and I'm focusing on that.”
Brandon Jones continued his hot streak in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after scoring his fourth top 10 of the season. He’s confident a win is just around the corner.
“I think when you’re in the top five like this every week and you’re competing with the best, it’s just going to eventually come. We just have to keep doing the top-five thing and keeping ourselves in position.”
On the other hand, teammate Christopher Bell, who finished third, was not happy with his result but knew his pit crew played a helping hand at Auto Club Speedway.
“It was a pretty awful race for us. One of the worst ones I’ve had. My pit crew was outstanding. They got us out front almost every time. That’s how we got this Rheem Supra to finish third.”
Team Toyota hits the track next this weekend at Martinsville Speedway with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series.
