Female Toyota drivers take on the ESPNW Summit

Last week, Toyota Racing Development drivers Hailie Deegan and Brittney Zamora were a part of the 10th annual ESPNW: Women + Sports Summit. The goal of the two-day event is to unite a world-class group of leaders in sports and business, female athletes and industry influencers – all focused on creating positive change and opportunity for women in sports.

Deegan and Zamora spoke on a panel emceed by ESPN reporter Sarah Spain on the challenges of being a female NASCAR driver and their day-to-day life working to achieve their goals in the sport. Other people featured throughout the event included Olympic athletes, WNBA all-stars and Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. 

Deegan and Zamora have achieved several milestones throughout their early NASCAR careers. 
 
The 18-year-old Deegan is in her second full-time season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. Last season, she earned Rookie of the Year honors and scored the first win for a female in the series. This year, Deegan has added two wins and currently sits third in the point standings.

Zamora, a 20-year-old driver from Washington, is in her rookie season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. She has earned two pole positions and scored top-five finishes in nearly half of all her starts this year.
