10 Questions with Daniel Suaréz

#96 Daniel Saurez Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Camry10 Questions with Daniel Suaréz
What series and car are you currently in?

The No. 96 Coca-Cola/CommScope Toyota Camry for Gaunt Brothers Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series

Describe your first win.

My first win was in go-karts a long time ago in my hometown. Every win is special, but the first one is really special. I was 11 years old. My first NASCAR win was in 2012 in Mexico City. My first win in the U.S. was in 2013 in Columbus, Ohio, in the K&N series, driving a Toyota.

What is your favorite workout at the gym?

My favorite workout in the gym are the core workouts. I feel the core is extremely important for many things. It’s the big part of your body and it can’t be weak, or the rest of your body is weak. I like doing it but if you do it right, you can be hurting the next day. But it’s very important.

What is your most memorable birthday gift?

I’m not sure. Actually, this year, Julia gave me some very cool vintage stuff – games like Monopoly– and other classic special-edition stuff. She bought them new but used. I like that kind of stuff.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

La Macarena.
Danile Saurez
What TV show are you binge watching right now?

I love Shark Tank. Like to sit watching it for a few hours at a time.

Besides racing, what activity do you enjoy doing?

Working on cars. Old cars.

Who is your racing idol?

I wasn’t expecting to be in racing until I was about 16, so I didn’t really have one when I was really young. There were a lot of people I admired, like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, people I have a lot of respect for and I’ve had the opportunity to race against them and it’s been a lot of fun.

What sports teams are you a fan of?

I love soccer a lot. I like obviously Tigres from my hometown. And I also like Real Madrid from Europe. Like LAFC in the MLS.

If you weren’t a race car driver, what would you be doing?
Something with old cars, for sure. Obviously, I like cars a lot. Either restoring cars or something along those lines. Unfortunately, restoration doesn’t make a lot of money. That’s the only bad thing. But definitely I’d be doing something with cars.
