Drew Dollar Earns First-Career ARCA Win

Toyota NASCAR and ARCA drivers competed at Talladega Superspeedway over the weekend, while Toyota-powered cars won all six nights of the USAC Indiana Midget Week.

NASCAR
Denny Hamlin (fourth) and Erik Jones (fifth) recorded top-five finishes in the rain-delayed NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) race at Talladega Superspeedway on Monday won by Ryan Blaney. Hamlin’s finish marked his seventh top-five in 13 NCS races this season, while Jones earned his career-best Talladega NCS result.

Three Toyota Camry drivers led the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag in Monday’s rain-delayed race at Talladega Superspeedway.

“We had a good Camry, we just ran out of fuel there at the end and had to pit with just a few laps to go,” said Hamlin, following the race. “But luckily, the caution came out and some other guys in front of us ran out of gas so we were able to get a few more positions and race to the finish. Overall, it was a good day and our car had good speed. Got into the wall there early in the race and we were able to rebound from that.”

Denny Hamlin
Camry drivers led 31 laps (of 191) with Hamlin’s No. 11 Camry in front of the field seven times for 18 laps.

In Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race, Brandon Jones was the highest-finishing Toyota driver at Talladega Superspeedway with a 16th-place result. Jones and his fellow Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) teammates Harrison Burton and Riley Herbst were all involved in on-track incidents during the 113-lap race. Burton and Herbst were knocked out of the race early, marking the first time this season Burton did not finish among the top-10 in an Xfinity Series race to halt his rookie record-breaking streak of 10 consecutive top-10 results in 2020.

Camry driver Drew Dollar won his first career ARCA Menards Series race on Saturday at Talladega. Dollar avoided a late-race accident to lead the final two laps and cross the finish line first ahead of Venturini Motorsports teammate Ryan Repko, who finished second.

USAC
Toyota-powered cars won all six nights of USAC's Indiana Midget Week. Over the course of the week, TRD engines led 117 of 180 laps and captured 14 of the 18 podium finishes. Toyota drivers Chris Windom and Buddy Kofoid currently stand first and second in the championship.
