Four Toyota Drivers Looking for NASCAR Championships

Denny Hamlin does a burnout after winning at Talladega Superspeedway.Four Toyota Drivers Looking for NASCAR Championships
The first cuts have been made and four Toyota drivers across NASCAR’s top three series are still in the running as the Round of 8 begins at Kansas Speedway.

Austin Hill is in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs for the second straight season and the Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) driver looks for his first career Championship 4 berth. Hill won his first race of the season at Kansas Speedway earlier the year, while the Georgia-native has earned a top-five finish and two top-10’s in the last two seasons at Texas Motor Speedway. The final stop in the Round of 8 – Martinsville Speedway – will likely be the toughest race in this round for the regular season champion, but Hill and his team are up for the challenge as HRE looks for its second championship in the last three years.

Brandon Jones is also a part of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Round of 8 for the first time. Jones is also thrilled to be starting the next round at Kansas Speedway – a track where he has driven to back-to-back victories. He won there earlier this season with an incredible final restart pass, one of his three victories this year. Texas Motor Speedway has also been a great track for Jones where the Joe Gibbs Racing driver earned a fourth-place finish last fall in Fort Worth. The final race in the Round of 8 is a new one for the Xfinity Series at Martinsville Speedway, but Jones is already preparing at the TRD Simulator.

There are two Toyota drivers in the final eight in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Denny Hamlin has had another incredible season that has continued in the Playoffs. The No. 11 driver added his seventh victory of the season at Talladega Superspeedway, and heads into the Round of 8 as the second overall seed. Hamlin has won the last two Cup Series races at Kansas Speedway. He also has recent victories at Texas Motor Speedway (2019) and Martinsville Speedway (2015).

Martin Truex Jr. also has recent success at both Kansas and Martinsville. Truex clinched his Playoff berth earlier this season with his second straight victory at Martinsville Speedway, while he also has two wins at Kansas Speedway – a sweep at the track during his 2017 Cup Championship season. Truex starts the Round of 8 as the sixth seed as he looks to qualify for the Championship 4 for the fourth consecutive season.
