Toyota’s focus remains on the safety and security of our customers, and we are continuing to reach out to all
affected customers every month to make sure they are aware of this recall. We are educating them about the
potential for death or serious injury as a result of this safety defect and encouraging them to bring in their
vehicle to a local authorized dealer to have the vehicle remedied as soon as possible. We are contacting owners
through a multi-channel approach, using first class mail, postcards, certified mail, email, phone calls and
social media depending on available contact information.
Toyota is making this recall easy and convenient, including emphasizing to customers that the repair is FREE and that alternative transportation is available while their vehicle is being repaired. Further, Toyota is piloting many new methods for reaching out to customers about safety recalls—including potentially knocking on their doors to speak to them directly. In addition, Toyota is collaborating and partnering with stakeholders from across the automotive industry to develop unique solutions to locate and repair as many affected vehicles as possible.
