Safety is one of the most important factors for minivans like the Sienna and Grand Caravan that carry around precious cargo.
With standard Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), and Road Sign Assist (RSA), Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0) helps keep you and your family safe in the 2021 Sienna.
In a market where advanced active safety features are becoming the norm, the Grand Caravan lags behind. Forward Collision is not offered on any Grand Caravan trim and fully automatic exterior light control is only standard on the Caravan SE Plus and SXT.
The Sienna also has standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). The Blind Spot feature is not available on the Dodge Grand Caravan.
With a hybrid-only lineup, the Sienna has outstanding gas mileage for both AWD and FWD configurations.
The Sienna FWD has an EPA-estimated 36/36/36 (city/highway/combined) MPG rating and the Sienna AWD has an EPA-estimated 35/36/35 (city/highway/combined) MPG rating. The Grand Caravan has an EPA-estimated 17/25/20 (city/highway/combined) MPG rating on all trim levels.
Feel confident driving all year round with available AWD in the 2021 Sienna. Front-wheel drive is the only option for Grand Caravan drivers. Plus, depending on where you're going, the Sienna has several drive modes including Normal, ECO, EV, and Sport. The Grand Caravan does not have the ability to switch drive modes.
For a smoother ride, the Sienna has standard Independent MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension which allows the rear wheels to move separately. The Grand Caravan's Torsion beam rear suspension doesn't allow the wheels to move independently, so if one wheel hits a bump, you feel it in both rear wheels.
The right interior features sweeten any ride. When you have a lot of passengers, more options mean more opportunities to make everyone happy.
When you can't agree on an ideal cabin temperature, the Sienna comes standard with three-zone automatic climate control with air filter, individual temperature settings for driver, front passenger and rear-seat passengers, and a separate rear digital control panel. All Grand Caravan models have manual dual zone front air conditioning. However, you can add the Driver Convenience Group package on the Grand Caravan SXT only for an additional $995 to get Air Conditioning with 3-Zone Temperature Control.
No matter which Sienna model you choose you will enjoy Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and Amazon Alexa compatibility standard. You also get hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology and SiriusXM® with a 3-month All Access trial subscription. The Grand Caravan SE does not come with Bluetooth® compatibility. For $915 you can add the Uconnect® Hands-Free Group package which includes Bluetooth® Streaming Audio and SiriusXM® Radio.
On your next adventure, the more the merrier. The Sienna LE and XLE 8-Passenger have seating for up to eight passengers, while the Grand Caravan only has seating for 7 no matter which model you choose.
When you arrive at your destination, easily get the kids in and out and make more room with the Sienna XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum trims’ super-long-slide feature. The Dodge Grand Caravan does not claim any long-slide feature on their specs page.
A comparison between the 2021 Sienna and the 2020 Grand Caravan reveals two minivans that are spacious and family-friendly performers. Several key features put the Sienna in the lead in this competition, including safety features, fuel economy, and interior options that sweeten the ride.
