Evan's Paralympic Journey

Evan’s hopes of becoming a professional skateboarder took a detour just days before his 18th birthday. While riding his motorcycle, Evan was hit by a car which required him to have his left leg partially amputated. Throughout his recovery, the thought of getting back to action sports is what pushed him through. Soon, he learned to snowboard, thus igniting his Paralympic dreams.

At the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics, Evan claimed his first medal in the men’s snowboard cross competition—a gold. He made his second Paralympic appearance in PyeongChang, where he earned silver in the banked slalom competition. Today, Evan continues to push himself to the next level of performance on the slopes while also working with non-profit organizations to change the mindset that people may have about others with disabilities, including athletes.
