Over 18 million adults are living with mobility issues in the United States alone, and Toyota is the only automobile manufacturer offering an industry-first — a factory-installed, power-rotating lift-up passenger Auto Access Seat for the Toyota Sienna — factory-backed and serviceable at any Toyota dealership.
True to The Toyota Way, Blake believes his responsibility is to do the right thing and bring awareness to the fact that Toyota cares about every customer. The simple act of having the Sienna’s one-touch operated Auto Access Seat displayed in the showroom demonstrates to all that Toyota products are designed to reflect the diverse needs of the markets we serve.
Plus, the Auto Access Seat for the Toyota Sienna can be folded into the overall financing of the vehicle, making it more affordable — another way Toyota is making dreams a reality and taking care of our customers for the long-term.
In just a few years, Sanford L. Woods Sr., CEO of S. Woods Enterprises, will retire. And, he will do so with peace of mind and the support of Toyota and Lexus — knowing his high-valued business and 200 employees are being left in the very capable hands of his daughter, Amber Woods.
Starting at age 15, Amber worked weekends at her father’s business, one of the nation’s largest black-owned auto dealerships. From service dispatcher to customer relations manager, Amber tackled every challenge, and when Mr. Woods was ready to begin succession plans, he asked his daughter to take the wheel.
In alignment with Toyota’s commitment to increase opportunities for women and minority-owned dealers, the Toyota/Lexus Minority Owners Dealer Association (TLMODA) was excited and proud to provide Amber with resources to increase her chances of success in the driver’s seat, including a strategic succession plan.
With her father as her mentor and the support of TLMODA, Amber is preparing to become a leader among women and minority-owned dealerships across the nation.
Dreaming and doing is not only encouraged at Toyota — it’s expected. And, Tina Watson exceeds that expectation.
Raised in Chicago, Tina dreamed of working at a major corporation in an area focused on higher education, leading her to pursue a degree in business management as a non-traditional student.
Determined to explore every avenue toward becoming a better global citizen, Tina applied for and earned the Jesse L. Jackson Sr. Fellow Scholarship offered by Rainbow PUSH Excel and sponsored by Toyota.
The scholarship offers 10 STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) or business field students $75,000 each, over three years, to follow their dreams. It includes an internship at a Toyota facility in North America and a mentorship with Toyota management, helping recruit innovative minds and strengthen the diverse, inclusive culture and leadership at Toyota.
Tina, together with Toyota, transformed dreaming into doing. As an Analyst College Recruiter for Toyota’s College Programs, she now mentors scholars who are currently pursuing their very own dreams.
Supplier diversity matters — Toyota’s success depends on it. We’re not selling just one type of vehicle to one type of customer. So, we grow alliances with suppliers who offer innovative ideas and business solutions that reflect our diversity lens, meeting the distinct needs of our individual customers. One such alliance is with Frank “Teddy” Peinado.
Teddy’s father, Emilio, was a Mexican immigrant who dared to dream big and successfully became the largest residential and commercial developer and contractor in the southwest. Emilio would often take Teddy to the construction sites, helping fuel Teddy’s passion for the family business. With his Masters in Construction Management, Teddy rose through the ranks of reputable construction firms and crafted his expertise.
And, in 2008, Teddy founded Peinado Construction, a firm concentrating on specialty buildings, such as industrial, manufacturing, distribution centers, medical, and data centers.
In 2015, Peinado Construction was awarded a significant investment: The contract for the buildout and tenant improvements of Toyota’s 250,000-square foot Toyota Quality Center — benefitting Toyota, its customers and Teddy’s business.
When every Girl Scout states her motto, “be prepared,” Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is ensuring this includes being prepared and empowered financially. In a recent survey conducted by the Girl Scout Research Institute, 90 percent of girls revealed they expect to be independent and financially empowered, and they have high expectations for their financial future. However, there are gaps, like having financial literacy skills, that can hinder girls from achieving their dreams.
That’s where TFS is stepping up and stepping in.
As part of over a $3.3 million partnership and investment, TFS and Girl Scouts of the USA are focused on providing financial literacy education and tools to tens of thousands of girls in grades 4-12 in underserved communities across the nation.
TFS is proud to help fill the gap and increase diversity impact by helping improve the lives and financial mobility of future generations of women leaders and their families through partnerships like “Driving My Financial Future.” By empowering our future to challenge what’s possible, we help make our world a better place.

Through the Toyota Dealer Investment Group (TDIG) and Toyota Avenues for Advancement Program (TAAP), we’re committed to increasing opportunities for women and diverse dealers.
We accelerate our commitment by identifying potential dealer candidates through partnerships with organizations like the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that are focused on driving economic growth through minority business impact.
TDIG supports Toyota and Lexus representation by providing capital, operational and management support to qualified candidates for women and minority-owned dealerships.
The Toyota Avenues for Advancement Program (TAAP) opens doors for talented individuals who are currently working in a Toyota or Lexus dealership with dreams of managing or owning their own dealership.
TAAP helps turn dreaming into doing through partnerships, education, training and financial assistance opportunities and assisting dealers to recruit, train and develop minority and women team members for dealership positions. As part of the program, Toyota provides dealers with toolkits that include guidebooks and a tuition reimbursement program.
