Calty Design Research, Inc.

Calty Design is part of Toyota's global design network which contributes innovative design concepts for a diverse vehicle lineup.
Calty Design Research was established in 1973 in Southern California. Toyota was the first major automotive manufacturer to recognize the significance of a creative design studio in this area. Today, almost every carmaker has a design office on the west coast. This was a revolutionary idea with a visionary purpose to gain inspiration from the unique trendsetting California spirit.
The Calty Design Research studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, became operational in 2004. Located next to the Toyota Technical Center, this facility provides comprehensive production* design development for North American vehicles.
Calty's primary goal is to research market trends and create innovative vehicle designs that reflect US tastes as well as other global markets. The company participates in a variety of project activities, including experimental concepts, advanced, competition and production design for the Toyota, Lexus and Scion brands. These design solutions are often shared and developed in collaboration with other Toyota design, planning, engineering and manufacturing groups in Japan and the US.
Our goal at Calty is to bring passion and creativity to every aspect of our design work. We invite you to explore career opportunities at Calty and a chance to be a part of the exciting world of automotive design.
