Green Suppliers
In compliance with all internal and external regulations, Toyota provides training to employees who handle and/or transport hazardous materials. We also share our environmental processes with our business partners and suppliers.
As part of our Supplier Environmental Program, approximately 500 of our suppliers are required to complete one or more of the following Green Supplier initiatives:
- Obtain ISO 14001 Certification: Toyota requires that suppliers who provide raw materials and/or parts and components must have an environmental management system that conforms to the ISO 14001 standard, certified by a third-party auditor.
- Comply With Chemical Ban List: There are approximately 450 chemicals and substances that suppliers of raw materials cannot use in their materials. Toyota updates the chemical ban list regularly, based on an evaluation of toxic chemicals regulated worldwide
- Maintain Hazardous Materials Transportation Compliance: All suppliers are required to develop the policies and procedures needed to comply with all applicable state, federal and international hazardous materials transportation requirements.
