Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Since 2007, through its "Making Life Easier” program, Toyota Financial Services (TFS) has provided local Boys & Girls Club members, alumni and staff with resources to help ensure that all youth have access to a quality education. TFS has provided $2.4 million in scholarships for nearly 500 Boys & Girls Club alumni and staff and supported thousands of middle and high school youth with mentorships, internships and financial or career programs to help them become productive and caring adults. TFS currently donates over $3 million a year to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
In an effort to increase the nation's high school graduation rate and the number of students who graduate from a post-secondary education institution with a plan for their future, Toyota partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2010, to underwrite the curriculum and become the founding partner of Diplomas to Degrees (http://bgca.org/meetourpartners/Pages/toyota.aspx) or d2D. d2D provides all 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs with staff-facilitated college-bound curriculum and experiential fieldtrips. All thirty-nine TFS offices across the country, including Puerto Rico, work with a local club in their area to help facilitate the d2D program. Toyota associates, at all levels of the organization, volunteer with the Clubs, including TFS President & CEO, Mike Groff, who serves on the Board of Trustees for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Toyota is also a proud sponsor of the national Youth of the Year annual gala in Washington DC. The Youth of the Year competition is BGCA’s premier recognition program for Club members who demonstrate strong moral character, academic success and promote service within the Club. Toyota provides a scholarship to each state and regional winner and beginning in 2010, has donated a brand new Toyota Corolla to the national winner.
