A World in Motion:® The Design Experience
Designed by the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE), AWIM® seeks to make math and science exciting by introducing authentic engineering design experiences to 4th through10th grade classrooms.
The curriculum pairs teachers and students with volunteer engineers and scientists for an exploration of the laws of physics, motion, flight and electronics.
Toyota Motor Corporation has supported A World in Motion® since its introduction in 1991. Under the direction of Dr. Shoichiro Toyoda, Toyota has contributed over $3 million. Since 2000, TTC-Michigan has also participated in AWIM to provide more than 60 volunteers and reach over 1,600 5th-grade students.
