The National Arbor Day Foundation
The National Arbor Day Foundation helps people plant and care for trees. Since
2001, Toyota has invested over $2.5 million for elementary education programs
and has sponsored the annual
Arbor Day National
Poster Contest.
In September of 2008, Toyota and Arbor Day announced a new partnership, Tree Campus USA, to assist universities in enhancing their campus forest and provide opportunities for student involvement in the community. A National Recognition Program for excellence in environmental stewardship on college campuses awards official Tree Campus USA designations to the schools that meet the qualifications.
To help launch this initiative, Toyota and Arbor Day held Tree Planting Events on nine campuses across the country in the fall of 2008.
Toyota and Arbor Day also launched a Facebook application called Tree
Planter that allows users to send "virtual" trees to friends for
$1. For every virtual tree sent, The Arbor Day Foundation plants a real tree
in one of eleven needy forests around the U.S.
