Dealers Go Green

We’re committed to protecting the environment not just through creating more environmentally friendly vehicles, but also by making sure our business and manufacturing facilities use more sustainable, green practices. And it’s a way of living we share with dealers, suppliers and other partners.

For example, we work closely with our dealers to help make their building projects as environmentally friendly as possible. As of December 2013, 11 Toyota U.S. facilities and 28 of our dealerships have obtained LEED® certification through our collaboration with them, and more are on the way. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a green building certification system developed by the U.S Green Building Council. LEED recognizes projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance. In fact, we have three LEED platinum dealerships – in San Francisco; Ithaca, New York; and Eugene, Oregon. And in Texas alone, we’ve helped four dealerships – in Granbury, Rockwall, McKinney and San Antonio – achieve LEED status.
