D.E.E.P. Recognizes Swope Toyota for Environmental Leadership
Dealerships participating in D.E.E.P. can earn up to five stars across four categories by tracking their environmental performance data, implementing improvement projects, and achieving minimum performance benchmarks aligned with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
Each year in April, we recognize a participating dealership with a D.E.E.P. award. To date, we have awarded three Bronze awards and one Silver award.1
Swope Toyota in Kentucky received a Bronze D.E.E.P. award in April 2024, becoming the fourth dealership to be recognized by the program.
Swope Toyota received technical support from D.E.E.P. representatives to achieve the following outcomes:

Reduced energy use by 34% Installed solar panels on the roof generating about 460,000 kWh, roughly 50% of Swope’s annual electricity use. Installed exterior LED lighting with automatic lighting controls. |
Reduced water use by 34% Planted native landscaping with no irrigation. Installed low-flow restroom faucets. Installed a pressure regulator to decrease water pressure from 120 to 45 pounds. |
Eliminated all but required paper documents for customers. Eliminated mass print advertising and leveraged video displays where possible. Eliminated pod coffee brewers. Replaced Styrofoam cups with coffee mugs. |
Partnered with the United Way Community Garden to clean out garden beds and lay mulch to prepare the area for native plants to grow in the spring |
